Antioxidants

Notes

Delta-tocopherol is a natural form of vitamin E that's extracted from various vegetable oils, particularly soybean oil, corn oil, and other plant sources. The extraction process involves refining these oils and separating out the different vitamin E compounds, with delta-tocopherol being one of the less common but still valuable forms found naturally in plants. This antioxidant helps prevent the oxidation of fats and oils in food products, extending their shelf life and maintaining their quality. You'll typically find delta-tocopherol in vegetable oils, processed foods containing plant-based fats, cereals, and sometimes in combination with other forms of vitamin E in mixed tocopherol blends used in natural food products. Being naturally derived from plants, delta-tocopherol is suitable for vegetarian, vegan, kosher, and halal diets. While it does provide some vitamin E activity, it's less potent as a nutrient compared to alpha-tocopherol, though it can be quite effective as a food preservative. Many consumers prefer it over synthetic alternatives because of its natural origin, and it's considered completely safe for regular consumption.
